Kathmandu, JUne 7: Finance Minister Dr Yubraj Khatiwada has said that economic activities should be forwarded by minimizing the risks of coronavirus in the market.

Minister Khatiwada said, “Share market could have been affected following weak market and production in some situation .But, it is only for short-term. We can win battle against corona virus. So, economic activities should be forwarded by fighting against coronavirus,” Minister Khatiwada said addressing the anniversary of Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) through audio visual medium on Sunday.

He stressed that though saving life was the first priority of the present economic activities should be forwarded and industries should be resumed gradually.

The Finance Minister clarified that the SEBON should also make preparations to resume its business, adding overall capital market and economy would be better if due attention paid.

He also expressed the view that the SEBON has been carrying out activities in mobilization of capital in industrial, financial, energy and other sectors through mobilization of internal capital and the role of Board is crucial as a regulatory body.

Urging the Board to forward process to get permission for commodity market, Finance Minister Khatiwada pointed out the need of making credit rating more reliable.

He mentioned that market information should be transparent, all financial details should be correct and there should be accessible to the people.

Similarly, Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank, Maha Prasad Adhikari, said that responsibility to increase confidence of financial sector has come upon their shoulders.

Expressing the commitment that the upcoming monetary policy would be forward necessary policy for sustainable development of capital market, he said that capital market has been directly and in-directly affected due to policy of the central bank.

Likewise, Board Chairperson, Bhishmaraj Dhungana, shared the activities of the SEBON carried out in a year period.
