By Dhirendra Prasad Sah, Rajbiraj, May. 4: A total of 46 people have succumbed to the novel coronavirus infection in Saptari until now.
The district's COVID-19 death toll reached 46 after two people including a teacher died of the virus infection on Tuesday.
"A 45-year-old teacher at National Secondary School in Saptakoshi Municipality, who was infected with the virus, died on Tuesday morning while under treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan," informed Uttam Kumar Sharma, mayor of the municipality.
He was admitted to the COVID-19 hospital of BPKIHS on April 26 after having some difficulty in breathing.
Similarly, a 35-year-old male of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality-2 also died of COVID-19 on Tuesday while receiving treatment at Biratnagar-based Nobel Hospital, informed Duniyalal Yadav, chief of the Saptari Health Office.
Meanwhile, the district recorded 41 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. Of the 65 RT-PCR tests, 41 people were found infected with the novel coronavirus, informed Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital.
Currently, the active cases of COVID-19 in the district are 190 and the total virus caseload is 2,002.
