Govt. to administer Sinopharm COVID vaccine for people the age of 40-59

By Mahima Devkota, Kathmandu, Apr. 3: The government has prepared to administer the vaccine against COVID-19 infection to the 40-59 age group of people.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), the target age group will receive the Sinopharm vaccine against COVID-19 infection. Nepal had received the eight lakhs Sinopharm vaccine government of China under grant assistance on March 29. 

Dr Jageshwor Gautam, Spokesperson at the MoHP told The TRN Online, “All the preparation to inoculate the 40-59 age group is underway, we will fix the date soon.”

Similarly, Dr Richa Nepal, Consultant Physician at the Department of Internal Medicine of Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital said that the Sinopharm vaccine is being stored in the Teku Hospital and the Tribhuwan International Airport.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Population is all set to provide the second dose of vaccine against COVID-19 infection from April 20-24.

As many as 4.5 lakhs of people who received a vaccine on the first phase under a priority basis will administer the second dose of vaccination.

Until now, Nepal has received 3,248,000 doses of vaccines.
