COVID-19 patient commits suicide, Banke records four deaths in 12 hours

By Govinda Sharma, Banke, Apr. 25: Banke recorded four COVID-19 related fatalities in the last 12 hours from Saturday evening to Sunday morning.

Likewise, a COVID-19 patient also committed suicide while staying in home isolation, informed the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre.

A 36-year-old female of Kohalpur-10 succumbed to the virus infection while under treatment at Kohalpur Medical College on Saturday night. Also, a 47-year-old female of Khajura-3 and a 60-year-old male at Nepalgunj-11, who was under treatment at Bheri Hospital died due to the novel coronavirus infection.

Tej Oli, focal person of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre, Banke, said, "A 60-year-old male of Kohalpur-9, who had contracted the virus committed suicide on Saturday night while staying in home isolation. He had been staying in isolation after testing positive on April 16."

Moreover, a member of the federal parliament Mohammedi Siddiqui, who had tested positive for the virus, died while under treatment at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj. She had been receiving treatment under a ventilator facility at the hospital.

Following a massive increase in COVID-19 cases from April, Bheri Hospital and Nepalgunj Medical College have been overflowed with patients while the hospitals are in shortage of isolation beds and human resources.

Lockdown has been announced in Nepalgunj from April 22.
