By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Apr. 30: The recovery rate in the Banke district, which has become the 'hotspot' of COVID-19 for the past two weeks, is on the rise lately as over 200 patients are recovering from the infection daily.

A total of 205 COVID-19 patients from a 5-year-old boy to a 71-year-old elderly were discharged from the hospital on Friday after recovering from the infection, said Tej Oli, COVID-19 focal person of the district.

"On Thursday, 244 patients including 100 females and 144 males recovered from the infection. The district has recorded 449 cases of recoveries in just two days," he said.

Stating that a total of 9,253 people had been infected with the virus in Banke until now, Tej Oli said, "Of them, 5,771 have already recovered from the infection and over 3,500 active patients are either staying in home isolation or receiving treatment in institutional isolations."

Moreover, the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre, Banke informed that the fatality rate had also been increasing in the district with the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
