Kathmandu, Oct. 4: Pancha Singh has become chairperson of the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union Revolutionary, the student wing affiliated to the CPN (Maoist-Centre).
Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda Sunday announced his decision to make Singh chairperson from among six candidates vying for the post after the union gave responsibility to Prachancha to pick the chair of the organisation. ANNISU-R national convention is continuing in Kathmandu. This is the first time in history of ANNISU-R that a female has become its chairperson.Pancha Singh and Surendra Basnet were the main contenders for the post.
Newly nominated Singh was born in Kalikot and went underground in 2001 when she was only 14 years old.
The Maoist-Centre decided to pick other five contestants, Surendra Basnet, Tilak Raj Bhandari, Uttam Adhikari, Deepak Devkota and Vijay Gautam in the central committee of the party.
