Kathmandu, Feb.24: National Trauma Center (NTC) has celebrated its 8th anniversary by organising various programmes.
Inaugurating the programme Health and Population Minster Birodh Khatiwada lauded medical personnel and all staff for their services to those who can’t afford it despite limited resources.
He added that the government is all set up to open Trauma Center in all districts to accommodate patient pressure. This year, Trauma Center will open in three places.
Dr Pramod Joshi, Medical Superintendent at NTC, said that in Nepal accidents induced death is the fourth leading cause of death and NTC is the only hospital that gives treatment in that line thereby reducing many probable death mortalities. 7 per 10000 vehicles death is recorded in Nepal so there is a need of hospital which gives treatment to accidents and calamities induced trauma.
He informed that as many 200 beds in which 150 general beds, 32 emergency 11 beds in Intensive care units and 7 postoperative are being operated in the hospital.
Meanwhile, chess, table tennis and badminton games were organized in the hospital on the occasion of the 8th annual day and winners were given awards and recognition.
Similarly, non-government organizations that as Upakar Sewa Nepal, Manab Sewa and Samanuboti Nepal were honoured for their support in form of donations and providing free food services to the hospital.
NTC is giving employment to as many as 507 people.
