Kathmandu, June 7: Joy Foundation Nepal has begun distributing 100 sets of oxygen concentrators to different local bodies, hospitals and health posts of Nuwakot, Syangja, Myagdi, Gorkha, Solukhumbu, Manang, Mustang, Kaski, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Bardiya, Baglung and Makwanpur districts.
The concentrators were donated by Milarepa Meditation Centre, Nepal on behalf of China's LIM Charitable Foundation and LIM Buddist Society. The Foundation handled the logistics of bringing the concentrators from China to Nepal.
Issuing a press release, Raju Shrestha, president of Joy Foundation Nepal, informed that they would begin distributing the oxygen concentrators from Sunday. “Hopefully, this will mitigate the shortage of oxygen and help health institutions save the lives of as many people as possible,” Shrestha said.
He added, “Hospitals and health posts, especially in remote areas, have been struggling to manage oxygen for their patients and the people have to queue up at factories to fill their oxygen cylinders. This causes delays which, in turn, may have tragic consequences. This aid, to an extent, will help health institutions serve their population.”
Shrestha also thanked Milarepa Meditation Centre for its support in helping the country fight COVID-19.
