Inflation down to 3.56 % from 6.82%

Kathmandu, Feb. 10: The consumer price inflation stood at 3.56 per cent in the first sixth month (mid-January) of the current fiscal year 2020/21 compared to 6.82 per cent a year ago.
Food and beverage inflation stood at 4.27 per cent whereas non-food and service inflation stood at 2.99 per cent during the review period, according to the macroeconomic and financial report published by Nepal Rastra Bank on Monday.
The price of ghee and oil, fruit, pulses and legumes and meat and fish sub-groups rose by 17.01 per cent, 16.58 per cent, 11.48 per cent and 10.68 per cent respectively on year-on-year (y-o-y) basis.
In the review month, the Kathmandu Valley, Terai, hill and mountain witnessed 3.55 per cent, 2.87 per cent, 4.72 per cent and 3.38 per cent inflation respectively.
These regions had witnessed 7.24 per cent, 7.46 per cent, 5.39 per cent and 5.01 per cent inflation respectively a year ago.
The y-o-y wholesale price inflation stood at 6.18 per cent in the review month compared to 7.88 per cent a year ago.
The y-o-y wholesale price of consumption goods, intermediate goods and capital goods increased by 6.28 per cent, 6.65 per cent and 3.20 per cent respectively.
The y-o-y salary and wage rate index increased by 1.72 per cent in the review month.
Such growth rate was 10.04 per cent a year ago.
In the review month, wage rate index increased by 2.22 per cent.
