Kathmandu, Apr. 28: The Election Commission (EC) Nepal has demanded Rs. 16.13 million to hold the upcoming National Assembly election in Bagmati Province. The EC is holding election for a seat in the NA on May 20. The election body has decided to ask for the amount from the Ministry of Finance.
Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the EC said, “A budget estimate of Rs. 16.13 million has been made to conduct and manage the election.”
The statement further read, “As per Article 27 and 28 of the Election Commission Act, 2017, the commission has decided to send a letter to the Ministry of Finance, government of Nepal for consensus on the procedure and release of the estimated budget.”
The NA election is going be held place after the position held by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’ fell vacant with the CPN (Maoist Centre), the party which he had represented in the National Assembly, expelled him after he joined the CPN-UML.
In the National Assembly election, heads and deputy-heads of local bodies and state assembly members can cast their votes.
Likewise, the commission has appointed Judge Dilli Ratna Shrestha of Makwanpur District Ccourt as the chief election officer for the upcoming election in Bagmati Province.
