Kathmandu, Oct. 4: Former Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Ayodhi Prasad Yadav’s new book “Election Cost and Political Party Finance’ was launched on Saturday.
Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal’s chair Upendra Yadav jointly unveiled the book amid a special function held in Lalitpur on Saturday.
The number of book written by Dr. Yadav has reached 10 now and it is the fifth book on the issues of election and electoral management.

The book, co-authored by Shyam Kumar Yadav, is based on Dr. Yadav’s 12-year experience as an election commissioner and chief election commissioner in the Election Commission as well as his diligent study and research.
Addressing the function, former Prime Minister Prachanda thanked the author for conducting the previous local, provincial and federal elections in free, fair and peaceful manner in the capacity of the chief election commissioner.

Prachanda further said that the book would help the collective efforts to minimise the election cost in the coming days, besides contributing to the study of election and its management.
Similarly, former Deputy Prime Minister Yadav also lauded Dr. Yadav for writing the book on the ways and strategies to lower the skyrocketing poll expenses.

Leader Yadav said that the fully proportional electoral system and the government form of directly-elected presidential system must be adopted to lower the cost of elections in the country.
Likewise, author Dr. Yadav said that he has broadly advised four ways in the book to curtail the election expenses. Improving the form of government, changing the current electoral system, upgrading the management of political parties and enhancing the functioning of the election commission were the four ways to reduce the election cost, added Dr. Yadav.

On the occasion, Maoist Centre leader Matrika Prasad Yadav and former vice-chancellor of Patan Academy of Health Sciences Dr. Bharat Kumar Yadav appreciated the book and the contribution of Dr. Yadav in enriching the study of election management.
