COVID-19 update: 2,725 PCR tests, 570 new infections, 14 deaths in last 24 hours

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct. 27: With 570 new cases of the novel coronavirus infection confirmed on Tuesday, the national COVID-19 caseload has reached 160,400.

"In 2,725 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 570 persons, 211 females and 359 males were found to have been infected with SARS-CoV-2," informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its update.

Currently, there are 40, 681 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 32,464 are in home isolation. Some 281 COVID-19 patients are admitted to the ICU while 71 are receiving treatment with ventilator facility. A total of 2,932 persons are currently placed in quarantine.

Meanwhile, 3,168 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 118,843 cases of recoveries and the recovery rate stands at 74.1 per cent.

As many as 14 people succumbed to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours and with this, the national COVID-19 related death tally has reached 876.
