Kathmandu, Mar. 10: The Global Nepali Film Award has been organised for the last six years with the objective of promoting Nepali films in the global market.
Meanwhile, the fifth edition of the Award has been announced to be held in Dallas, in Texas, USA during a function held in the capital recently.
The award, which has been regularly organised since 2016, will be held on July 3 this year, according to the organisers.
Earlier, all four editions of the award were held in different cities of the United States.
The awards were presented in 2016, 2017 and 2018 in Denver, Colorado, and in 2019 in San Francisco, California.
This award could not be held in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic.
With the slogan “Nepali Cinema: Village to Globe”, the award aims to honour and encourage Nepali artistes living in Nepal and the US, develop film tourism in Nepal, promote Nepali films and reunite artistes from Nepal and those living in the United States.
The fifth edition of the award is sponsored by ATA Everest Insurance. A selection committee for the award will be formed soon, informed the organisers.
Actors Nir Shah, Shiv Shrestha, Sharmila Malla, Karishma Manandhar, Ashok Sharma, Ujjwal Ghimire, Aryan Sigdel, Rabindra Khadka, Sarita Lamichhane, Arjun Pokhrel and others were present in the programme held in the capital.
