Kathmandu, Mar. 28: Nepal Police Headquarters has received applications of a total of 293,216 people to become temporary police personnel for the local level election to be held on May 13 in 753 local bodies. These applications were received from across the 77 District Police Offices. The Police Headquarters had called for applications for 100,000 temporary police positions last week.
“In a vacancy of 100,000 manpower, we have received nearly 300,000 applications from across the districts and the required manpower will be recruited within a week,” Central Police Spokesperson and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bishnu Kumar KC said. According to him, the highest number of applications have been received in Madhes Province. The highest number of 68,006 applications has been received in Madhes Province, said SSP KC.
According to the Spokesperson, after Madhes Province, the second highest applications were received in Lumbini Province with 56,560. Likewise, in Province 1, 50,944 have applied, in Bagmati Province 27,834, in the Kathmandu Valley 13,950, in Gandaki Province 25,050, in Karnali Province 21,245 and in Sudurpaschim Province 29,714 persons applied.
Those who had applied were asked to contact the District Police Office on Sunday, KC said.
“From Tuesday (March 29), there will be health check-up and physical fitness test of those selected candidates,” he said. A six-member selection committee has been formed in each district under the coordination of the Chief District Officer for the selection of temporary police, SSP KC said.
The committee includes Chief of the District Police Office, a Gazetted Second Class Officer of the Nepali Army and the Armed Police Force, an officer of the National Investigation Department and a Deputy Superintendent of Police or Police Inspector of Police of the District Police Office as member secretary.
