Mangalbare, July 10: The Deumai municipality of Ilam has decided to provide financial support of Rs 50,000 to the families who have lost a member due to COVID-19.
The decision was made in the policy and programme endorsed by the municipal executive for the new fiscal year.
Likewise, the municipality decided to provide a monthly social security allowance of Rs 500 per person with a yellow identity card of disability. This was done after the municipality was declared disability-friendly, Mayor Surya Prasad Pokharel said.
Another new programme included in the budget for the financial year 2021/22 is a monthly allowance for women above 45 years and unmarried. The municipality has already started a monthly allowance for single men or widowers.
Likewise, the municipality has also adopted a policy to provide monthly 1,000 rupees to gender and sexual minorities in the municipality. Other notable programmes include childbirth allowance, death ritual expenses, and child nutrition allowance.
