Banke, Nov. 21: Construction of physical infrastructure and other technical works for the regular publication of Gorkhapatra from Kohalpur in Banke have reached the final stage.
Meanwhile, the trial printing of Kohalpur publication has been successfully completed on Saturday in presence of Executive Chairperson of Gorkhapatra Corporation (GC) Bishnu Prasad Subedi, Acting General Manager and Acting Editor-in Chief Shiva Kumar Bhattarai and Director of Administration Department Om Bhusal.
After the trial publication, Chairperson Subedi informed that the publication of Gorkhapatra would be started in Kohalpur as soon as possible after completion of procedural work.
"We want Gorkhapatra to be available for its readers as soon as possible in all districts of the three provinces of western Nepal," said Chairman Subedi. According to Subedi, a team including officials from the corporation and the Ministry of Information and Technology has reached the site to create a conducive environment to publish the national daily prior to February 19, National Democracy Day.
The Acting General Manager and Acting Editor-in-Chief said that the corporation had established its own press in Kohalpur with the aim of making Gorkhapatra available to all its readers in all parts of the country.
"Now, along with the publication from western Nepal, local contents will also get priority," Bhattarai said.
The team has taken necessary information about building construction and others with contractors and technicians including Engineer Bijay Keshar Khanal of the Federal Project Implementation Unit. The construction of buildings for press and warehouse has yet to be completed.
The corporation has purchased one bigha land in Kohalpur-3, Maitahawa, in an effort to expand its publications to western region of the country.
Tara Basyal, Head of Gorkhapatra Kohalpur Publication, said the corporation had completed the construction of the wall at its land in first phase and now it had been constructing buildings of press and warehouse.
Meanwhile, the corporation has conducted basic technical training targeting the regular publication from the place. A total of eight people participated in the five-day basic web offset and printing training. Chairperson Subedi distributed certificates to the trainees at a programme organised on Saturday.
On the occasion, Chairperson Subedi said that those working in the equipment were the lifeline for Gorkhapatra and they deserved respect and that other training would be given to those working on the machine after this.
