Nepal has won bronze medal in 24th International Astronomy Olympiad held recently in Romania.
Rahul Ranjan Sah won bronze medal for Nepal in the championship where students from 20 countries including Nepal had contested.
Out of those students who performed best in sixth National Astronomy Olympiad held in Nepal, five had participated in 24th international Astronomy Olympiad. A seven-member team under leadership of Chairperson of Nepal Astronomical Society, Suresh Bhattarai, had participated in the Olympiad.
Three students towards junior category including Reja Thapa and two towards senior category had participated in the International Astronomy Olympiad. Chair Bhattarai said that this achievement is the biggest achievement of the Nepal so far in Olympiad of Astronomy and Astrophysics.
Sah was Nepal first towards junior category of the sixth National Astronomy Olympiad. Yaman Acharya of Bishwo Adarsha School, Itahari, and Akash Gurung of St. Xavier, Jwalakhel towards senior category had participated in the Olympiad while Rahul Ranjan Sah of Xt. Xavier College, Maitighar, Surabhi Luintel of St. Mary's School, Jwalakhel and Bhumi Kayastha of Suryodaya Secondary Boarding School, Ghattekulo, towards junior category.
