Kathmandu, Oct 2 : Nepal Army is participating in the 7th CISM Military World Games scheduled for October 18-27 in Wuhan, China. Organised in every four years by the International Military Sports Council, this is the first time Nepal is representing in the Games.
The Games will be attended by 10,719 athletes from 105 countries across the globe. A total of 27 sports have been chosen for the Games, and competition will take place for a total 328 different titles.
Nepal will be participating in 13 sports including archery, badminton, boxing, horseracing, fencing, judo, triathlon, taekwondo, beach volleyball, wrestling, modern pentathlon and shooting, said Colonel Shashi Kiran Rayamajhi, chief of the Nepal Army Physical Training and Sports Centre here today.
A Nepali team including 40 athletes and coaches are leaving Nepal on October 12, 15 and 16 to take part in the Games.
Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Ishwor Pokharel is scheduled to partake in the inaugural ceremony of the Games as special guest, and Lieutenant General Gaurab Tandul as guest of member state.
