Kathmandu, Feb 6: Machchhindra Football Club has climbed to the top position of the Martyrs Memorial 'A' Division League Football Tournament defeating Saraswoti Youth Club 6-1 in the first game of the tournament played at Satdobato-based ANFA ground.
Machchhindra scored a goal in the first half while netting five goals in the second half of the game. Devendra Tamang scored the first goal for Machchhindra in the 40th minute. He scored a header from a cross pass from Ranjit Dhimal.
Deepak Rai scored the second goal in the 54th minute followed by Bishal Rai (A) five minutes from the second goal. The third goal for Machchhindra came from Deepak Rai again in the 77th minute.
Somid Woluaunomi Adilaja and Andres Niya scored a goal each in the second half sealing the victory for Machchhindra with wider margin.
Kajim Busari scored the only consolation goal for of Saraswoti in the 87th minute.
With this, Machchhindra which has played 11 matches so far has collected 25 points while Saraswoti which has played equal number of matches has four points.
