Kaski, Oct 1: International Cross-Country Race Championship is to be organised in Pokhara from October 16. Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Western Regional Hotel Association, Pokhara and Kunming Mountaineering and Exploration Association of China are jointly organising the championship.
At a news conference organised on Tuesday, programme coordinator Bishwo Shankar Palikhe said that around 30 teams from both countries are participating in the championship.
A total of 60 people including 30 athletes would participate in the championship. Similarly, there would be participation of 10 teams of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force Nepal and Nepal Army as well as 10 teams from Pokhara.
Palikhe said that the championship is going to be organised with an objective of increasing the Nepal stay of tourists, informing the world about the tourism potentialities and making publicity that Nepal is the destination of adventurous tourism.
The race would begin from Barahi Chowk of Baidam, the tourism site of Pokhara. The distance of the race would be 22 kilometres, 19 kms cycling and 1.2 km boating.
The first, second and third winner of the championship would get trophy and medal as well as get chance to participate in Zhou Mountaineering Race Championship to be held in China.
