Kathmandu, Oct 2 : Minister of State for Health and Population, Dr Surendra Yadav has said the Ministry of Health and Population has accorded top priority to the security of health service providing institutions and the health workers.
He said attention has been given to ensuring security to hospitals, doctors and health workers in coordination and cooperation with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
A delegation of Doctors' Society of Nepal met with Minister of State Yadav on Tuesday to express concern over the growing insecurity to hospitals and doctors. On the occasion the delegation had handed over their aprons to the Minister of State for Health stating that insecurity was increasing at hospitals and health facilities.
Society's general secretary Dr Toshima Karki said they drew the Ministry's attention over the increasing incidents of attacks and mistreatment on doctors and health workers treating patients in hospitals.
One latest such incident took place at the Chabahil-based Om Hospital in which Nepal Medical Association's life member Prof Dr Bhola Raj Joshi was mistreated by the relatives of a patient.
