Kathmandu, Sept 26: Chitwan Tigers (CT) has made a good start in the fourth Everest Premier League (EPL) T20 Tournament as it defeated the Biratnagar Warriors (BW) to win the match by two wickets.
In the match held at the Kirtipur-based Tribhuvan University cricket ground today, the CT chasing the 152-run target set by the BW met the target in 20 overs at the loss of eight wickets.
CT's Rajesh Pulami scored 43 runs not out followed by 30 runs by Bheem Sarki, 23 by Dilip Nath, 19 by Karim Janat and 10 by Ishan Pandey.
Team captain Sompal Kami played with nine runs while Sekkuge Prasanna with three runs and Kamal Singh Airie and Hamad Shahjad with one run each before returning to the pavilion.
Towards bowling, BW's Sikandar Raza and Karan KC took two wickets each.
Prior to this, BW which was invited to bat first after losing the toss notched up 151 runs in 20 overs at the loss of nine wickets. Sikandar contributed the highest 67 runs to the team with seven sixes and two fours in 47 balls.
Anil Shah scored 32 runs while Saurabh Khanal, Rayyan Pathan, Chandrapaul Hemraj and Captain Karan KC could not hit a double-digit score. Sumit Maharjan, Pratish GC and Aasif Sheikh failed to score.
Towards bowling, Chitwan's captain Kami, Kamal Airie, Karim Janat and Sagar Dhakal took two wickets each. With this victory, Chiwan has accumulated two points. BW will meet Kathmandu Kings Eleven and Chitwan will face the Bhairahawa Gladiators on Monday.
