Malangwa, Jan 30: One person was killed and 13 others were injured when a passenger bus hit a motorcycle at Banke in Ishwarpur Municipality-12 of Sarlahi along the East-West Highway. A person travelling on the motorcycle died while the injured were passengers of the bus.
The night bus (Na 7 Kha 753) heading towards Kathmandu from Bariyarpatti of Siraha hit the motorcycle (Na 29 Pa 4498) heading in the opposite direction last night. According to Sarlahi Police Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Budhathoki, 12 out of 40 passengers were injured when the bus overturned on the left side of the highway.
The deceased has been identified as pillion rider Bhakta Bahadur Khadka, 27, of Gharibathan in Ishwarpur-12 and motorcycle rider Arun Khadka, 26, of the same place was seriously injured. He was treated at Gadhimai Hospital in Lalbandi and sent to National Medical College, Birgunj for further treatment, police said.
After treatment at Lalbandi Model Hospital, seven persons have been discharged and returned to their homes and the remaining four injured are undergoing treatment at the same hospital. One person has been recommended to Siraha, police said. Accidents on the highway have increased due to heavy fog.
