Kathmandu, Sept. 13: Kathmandu Metropolitan City started consultations with stakeholders in a bid to resume classes in schools physically after the Kathmandu District Administration said the local governments can give permission to resume classes in physical presence from September 17.

A joint meeting of the Kathmandu District Administration Office and the local governments in the district on Monday last week decided to resume classes in the physical presence of the students. After the decision of the meeting, Gokarneshwor and Budhanilkanta municipalities have already resumed classes in physical presence, but KMC has not taken any decision as it is still consulting with the concerned stakeholders.

Ram Prasad Subedi, Education Department head of the KMC, said now they were collecting views of all sides, like private schools, public schools, teachers, guardians and health experts about resuming classes from September 17.
On the basis of consultations, it has called a meeting for coming Tuesday, which may decide the time, module and way of resuming classes in physical presence, he said.

According to Subedi, there may be different options like all schools may not resume at once, schools can resume at different times, and operating classes only for limited students or a decision to resume classes only after Dashain and Tihar vacations can be taken.
The final decision may be known in two days, Subedi said.
