Damauli, May 22: The Vyas municipality has decided to provide financial aid of Rs. 10,000 to the families that lost a member to COVID-19. The support is being provided to meet the cost of cremation and mourning rituals.
The decision was taken by the municipal executive on Friday. Accordingly, the financial support will be provided based on a recommendation from the concerned ward office, according to spokesperson Mohan Kumar Shrestha. Likewise, 5,000 rupees shall be provided to the poor and workers who are infected with COVID-19 and undergoing treatment.
So far, 10 persons have died in the municipality. In the second wave, a total of 291 people have tested positive for Corona Virus. Of them, 222 are in home isolation and undergoing treatment in the Damauli hospital, GP Koirala Respiratory Hospital, among others.
Considering the risk, the municipality has also decided to provide hazard allowance to frontline workers involved in the COVID-19 prevention, control, and treatment service. This will constitute 25 to 100 per cent of the basic salary scale, Shrestha said.
