By Prakash Chandra Bhattarai, Damauli, July 10: Over 160 people of 43 households at two wards of Sukla Gandaki Municipality in Tanahu district have been displaced due the flooding of the Seti River that entered human settlement near the banks.
Krishna Prasad Regmi, chair of ward number 8 of the flood affected municipality, said the floods of the swollen Seti River had entered the settlements of wards 4 and 8 lying near the river banks.
14 households of ward number 4 and 29 houses of ward number 8 are at high risk due to the flooding.
Ward chair Regmi said, families of the affected houses had left the houses at midnight on Thursday for safer place as the flooded river started entering their settlement. Although no human casualty has been reported so far, the flood has swept away cattle and food grains.
Badri Nath Adhikari, chief District Officer of Tanahu, said that those displaced due to the flood were evacuated to a safe place. He said that high alert was necessary due to the flood in the district although no human loss was reported so far. CDO Adhikari said that the residents at the settlements near the river banks were urged to stay in a safe way.
