By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 28: Fagu Purnima, the festival of colours, is being celebrated today in Kathmandu Valley.
Though the government had urged everyone not to crowd the public places and to not walk in groups, hundreds of devotees have gathered and celebrated Holi in mass at Basantapur this afternoon.
District Administration Office (DAO) Kathmandu had requested yesterday the denizens to limit the celebrations to their families by following precautionary measures in a bid to prevent coronavirus transmission.
The festival, whose celebration begins with a Holika Dahan, or the death of demon Holika on its eve, marks the victory of justice over injustice. People enjoy smearing red vermilion powder to one another on the occasion. The festival, celebrated until the full moon day, started on Sunday after erecting a pole at Basantapur.
