By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 22: A crowd of people seeking the certificate of COVID-19 vaccination has thronged the Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku.
Dr. Sher Bahadur Pun, coordinator of the clinical research unit in the hospital, said, "The hospital has been densely crowded with people to receive the vaccination certificate."
In the crowd, most of the people are youths flying abroad for employment, waiting within the hospital premises to get their certificates.
The government had made Johnson and Johnson (J&J) vaccines available to the youths after the major host countries brought policies to permit only those workers who have been vaccinated. As per the standards, one can fly abroad for foreign employment 14 days after being vaccinated. "This is why the hospital has been overflowed with people since Thursday morning," said Dr. Pun, adding that the hospital was currently in a mismanaged condition.
He added, "Neither social distance is being maintained nor the health safety standards are being followed in the hospital premises. This has increased the risk of infection."
The Teku Hospital is the only hospital authorised by the government to issue vaccination certificates.
