By TRN Online, Kathmandu, July 28: As many as 23 officials of the Nepal Police Headquarters have tested positive for COVID-19 today.
“On Sunday, four officials had tested COVID-19 positive. 23 more cases of virus infection were confirmed on Tuesday, taking the case count of the police headquarters to 27,” informed Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Niraj Bahadur Shahi, central spokesperson of Nepal Police.
According to DIG Shahi, drivers, mechanics and officials working in the mess hall, among others, were found with the virus infection.
He added that the preparations were underway to transfer the infected police personnel, currently receiving treatment at Nepal Police Hospital, to the Armed Police Force (APF) hospital in Balambu.
The four police officials who tested positive for the virus on Sunday have been receiving treatment at Balambu-based APF hospital.
Contact tracing of those who have come in direct contact with the infected officials has begun, said DIG Shahi.
