By Mukunda Gaire, Kathmandu, June 20: Chief District Officer (CDO) of the three districts in the Kathmandu Valley are holding a meeting today afternoon to decide on how to gradually relax and extend the ongoing prohibitory order.

The CDOs have drawn conclusions to extend the ongoing restrictions at least by a week but relax it by permitting to open certain business activities so as to make the economy running.

In the prohibitory order to be extended, banks, fancy clothing stores, utensil store, and other similar business that do not gather crowd will be allowed to open for a certain time and by adopting health protocols, according to Dhundi Prasad Niraula, CDO of Lalitpur district.

He said discussions were also held to allow private vehicles to ply on an alternate odd-even number system.

With a view to check spread of COVID-19 as the cases grew alarmingly, the prohibitory order which was enforced since April 30 and then extend a couple of times is ending tomorrow night.

In the last extension, permission was given to open groceries, fruits and vegetable shops, dairies and meat shop, cooking gas depots and take away restaurants in the morning. Banks have been allowed to operate.
