Kathmandu, Dec. 8: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) on Monday confirmed 1,014 new cases of COVID-19. With this, Nepal’s official national COVID-19 tally has now reached 241,995.
Meanwhile, Nepal’s death toll has now touched 1,614 with 20 new COVID-19 related fatalities recorded in the past 24 hours. The fatality rate now stands at 0.67 per cent, according to MoHP data.
Of the total 1,614 COVID-19 fatalities in the country, 634 are from the three districts of Kathmandu Valley, thus accounting for over 39 per cent of the fatality, with 414 deaths in Kathmandu, 124 in Lalitpur and 96 in Bhaktapur district.
Currently, among the total active cases and those in home isolation, 332 patients are admitted to the intensive care units (ICU) of hospitals, and 53 are receiving treatment with ventilator support.
Of the 53 patients on ventilator support, the highest 30 patients are in Bagmati State, followed by nine in Gandaki State, according to MoHP data
Meanwhile, Nepal continues to witness more recoveries compared to daily infection caseload in the recent days and the past week. A total of 1,628 COVID-19 patients recovered nationwide in the last 24 hours, compared to 1,014 new infections, according to the MoHP.
Nepal’s national COVID-19 recovery tally has now reached 227,433. The recovery rate now stands at 93.98 per cent.
Of the 6,220 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests conducted in the last 24 hours, 1,014 persons, with 370 females and 644 males, were found infected with the COVID-19, according to MoHP daily situation update report.
Of today’s new cases, 442 were reported in Kathmandu Valley’s three districts, making the capital valley account for over 43 per cent of the total daily caseload.
Also, as per the latest district-wise data by MoHP, Kathmandu and Lalitpur of Bagmati and Kaski of Gandaki State are the only three districts with over 500 active cases. Currently, there are 12,948 active cases of COVID-19 and 527 persons are placed in quarantine.
Nepal has so far conducted a total of 17,90,739 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests over the past months since January.
