Kavre, Jan. 6: The reconstruction works of Kavre schools, which were damaged by the 2015 earthquake, have reached the final stage. More than 90 per cent of schools of the district have completed the reconstruction works of late.

However, 41 schools who carried out the construction of their buildings from school development committees have complained that they have not received the payment yet.
Bikash Lama, Chairman of Chakreshwar Secondary School management committee in Bethanchowk Rural Municipality-1, said that the government had not reimbursed the expenses incurred during the construction of the school building.

"Although we constructed the four-room building from District Project Execution Unit (education), we were compelled to pay the workers from other sources as we did not receive the final installment from the government," said Lama.
According to the Education Coordination Unit, Kavre, construction of 41 school buildings, 50 drinking water projects and 79 toilets have been completed, but final payment has not been released.

Shreya Jha, engineer at the Unit, said that payment of a total Rs. 105 million was due. "Around Rs. 4.4 million is yet to be provided to 10 schools, Rs. 40 million to 30 schools and Rs. 1.1 million to eight schools," she said.
Similarly, Rs. 44 million to 79 toilets and 12 million to 50 drinking water projects are due, said Jha.
Reconstruction of 392 school buildings has been completed in Kavre while the construction of 13 buildings has reached the final stage.
