By Our Correspondent, Palpa, Aug. 25: Around 663 houses at Patan in Byas Municipality-5 of Palpa district have been exposed to risks of being swept away by the local flooded Madi river.
The river has eroded the riverbanks and started advancing towards the settlements, said local people.
Physical infrastructures belonging to a dozen organizations have also been at risk of flooding. Tej Bahadur Nepali, a local of the village said locals often spent sleepless nights.
“We do not know when the flooded river enters and submerges the village,” Nepali said.
Mayor Baikuntha Neupane said that the Municipality will immediately launch programme to control the erosion as the locals are continuously in fear.
