Kathmandu, Nov. 10: Nepal-Denmark Bilateral Consultation Mechanism has emphasised the encouragement of economic partnerships between the two countries.
Such partnership can be extended in various economic areas, including in trade, investment, technology transfer, renewable energy and tourism sectors, said the two sides during a meeting of the mechanism held on Monday.
It stressed the importance of the exchange of high-level visits, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) in its statement.
The two sides would continue to enhance cooperation in culture, education and people to people contacts as well.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the meeting was held through video conference. It discussed matters relating to bilateral relations and cooperation at the regional and multilateral levels between Nepal and Denmark.
According to the MoFA, the two sides exchanged views on recent developments in both the countries and underscored the importance of cooperation on matters of common interest such as climate change.
Views were also shared on the challenges posed by COVID-19 and on the measures adopted by their respective Governments to mitigate them.
Joint Secretary of Europe and the Americas Division at the MoFA Nirmal Raj Kafle and Director for Asia, Latin America and Oceania at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark Thomas Lehmann led their respective delegations to the BCM.
Ambassador of Nepal to Denmark Yuba Nath Lamsal also participated in the meeting.
Nepal and Denmark had established the bilateral diplomatic relations on December 15, 1967. The latter has been supporting in Nepal's development for long.
