NEB to open registration for SEE students from next week

By A Staff Reporter
Kathmandu, Dec. 28: Although conducting the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) this year still remains uncertain, the National Examination Board (NEB) has decided to open the registration forms of grade 10 students.
The NEB has been planning to open the registration form of grade10 examinations from next week, Ramraj Khakurel, controller of the NEB grade 10 examination, said.
Earlier, the NEB used to ask schools to submit students' registration form by September. But this year, the NEB is yet to announce dates for submitting the examination form as the classes were delayed by months because of coronavirus fear and there is also debate as to which body—NEB or provinces—should take the exams and what the model will be.
Although the NEB decided to collect the examination forms from students, the government has not yet decided when and in what way the SEE examination is going to be held this time.
Last year, after the SEE was postponed due to coronavirus, students received grade sheets on the basis of internal evaluation made by the teachers of their own schools.
Stakeholders have been suggesting the government authorities to make SEE grade 10 examinations as national examinations because grade 12 is the final school level education.
Controller Khakurel said the decision to open the registration could be useful for everyone even if the government took any new decision about the examination body and model.
