Kathmandu, Nov. 23: Nepali Congress’s general convention concluded in 158 federal level constituencies of 74 districts by Monday.
The party is yet to hold the convention in seven federal level constituencies because of disputes.

On Monday, the party held the convention in 125 constituencies of House of Representatives of 59 districts. Earlier, the convention was held in 32 constituencies of 14 districts before Dashain festival and in one constituency of Solukhumbu on Sunday.
In Bajura, Bajhang, Dolakha, Gorkha, Humla, Kalikot, Manang, Mugu Mustang, Myagdi, Ramechhap, Rukum East, Sankhuwasabha and Taplejung, the party had held the convention up to the district level before Dashain.

The convention has not been held in four constituencies of Sarlahi, two of Sindhupalchwok and one in Rasuwa district owing to disputes. In Sarlahi, even the ward level convention has not been conducted due to factional disputes.
However, municipal level committee elections were held in Sindhupalchwok on Monday, according to NC Central Election Committee member Tej Rawal.

He informed that provincial constituency and federal constituency level general conventions in Sindhupalchowk would be held by next Monday and in Rasuwa within a few days.
“We will manage disputes in Sarlahi within two or three days and the convention in those districts will be held at the earliest,” said Rawal.

However, the results of the election of the federal constituency level conventions were not made public until late night on Monday. “We have not got any results so far,” said Rawal.
The HoR constituency level convention under the party’s 14th general convention calendar will elect a new working committee in all 165 constituencies as per the new party structure, central general convention representatives and Mahasamati members.

Regional representatives elected from the ward level had cast votes to elect the HoR constituency committee, central general convention representatives and Mahasamati members.
Former and sitting office-bearers and members of the Central Working Committee, District Committee chairs, Constituency Committee chairs, HoR election candidates and lawmakers, Provincial Assembly members and candidates were other voters in the election of the general convention members for one time. The NC had started its ward level general convention from September 3. It started Provincial Constituency level convention from November 19.

It has scheduled to hold the district level general convention on November 26, provincial general convention on December 2-3 and Central Working Committee general convention on December 10-12 in Kathmandu.
