Kathamndu, Jan. 25: All the museums of the Kathmandu Valley have closed their doors to visitors in light of the ever-increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the capital.
A meeting of the Chief District Officers of the three districts of the valley on Thursday had decided to impose additional restrictions to curb the spread of the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus.
One of these restrictions included the closing of museums from Friday midnight.
Following this, the Narayanhiti Palace Museum, National Museum and the museums located in the durbar squares of Bhakatapur, Lalitpur and Kathmandu have been closed since Saturday and will remain closed until further notice, they stated in separate statements.
Similarly, in adherence to the administration’s order, the Central Zoo located in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, has also been closed. The only zoo of the country will not be welcoming visitors until the administration deems it safe to do so or lifts the recently-announced prohibitions.
