Kathmandu, Feb. 10: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted light rains in most parts of the country and snowfall in the high hills and mountains from Wednesday to Friday.
Due to the influence of westerly winds in the country, the weather has changed across the nation and there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in many places of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Lumbini and Gandaki, according to Manju Basi, a senior meteorologist at DHM. The current system which was active since Tuesday will recede from Thursday afternoon, Basi said.
She said that there will be general to moderate cloud cover in Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpashchim Province along with hilly regions of the rest of the Province and moderate cloud cover in the rest of the country.
Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at some places of Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpashchim Province and a few parts of hilly region of the rest of the province and chances of light to moderate snowfall at many places of the high mountainous region on Wednesday night.
While on Thursday, the MFD predicted, partial to normal cloud cover in the hilly terrain and there will be partial cloud cover in other regions. There is a possibility of light rain in a few places in Province 1, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province and light snowfall in a few places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of the province.
The weather will be partially cloudy in Province 1, Madhes Province, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province and the rest of the country will be generally clear on Friday.
There is also a possibility of light rain in a few places in Province 1, Bagmati and Gandaki and light snowfall in a few places in the high hilly and mountainous areas of the province.
Meanwhile, Humla received snowfall for the eleventh time this year. Even though the weather has been disturbed since the morning, the temperature has declined sharply since the onset of snowfall.
According to local Nanda Raut, the snowfall has started since Wednesday afternoon and it was the eleventh snowfall in the district.
The minimum temperature in Humla was recorded minus 1 degree Celsius, while the minimum temperature in Kathmandu was recorded 5.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
