Kathmandu, Nov. 26: Haribodhani Ekadashi and wedding ritual of the Tulsi (basil) plants are being performed across the country on Thursday.
On the occasion of Haribodhani Ekadashi, Tulsi plant, which is believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, will be decorated with flowers alongside other accessories.
Small logs of bamboo, colloquially called lingo, are raised over the Moth, where Tulsi plants grow adjusting the garlands.
It is believed that Lord Vishnu goes to sleep on Harishayani Ekadashi and wakes up to preside over the religious rites across the universe on the day of Haribodhani Ekadashi.
Devotees fast and worship Tulsi plant on this day.
They offer worship to Vishnu and Mahadev at temples across the country, including at Theliya, Shambhunath, Lalapatti, Baluwa, Rajbiraj, among others.
Fairs are held at Ramdhumi Temple of Sunsari, Maipokhari of Ilam and four Narayans of the Kathmandu Valley.
