Kathmandu, June 17: In an effort to help Nepal fight the coronavirus pandemic, three major donor organisations --Shanghai Jade Buddha Temple (China), Shanghai Jue Qun Cultural & Educational Foundation (China), Tan Ngak Buay and Kee Meng Lang Foundation Limited (Singapore) of Shangpa Foundation -- have supported the country with oxygen concentrators and other medical equipment.
Shanghai Jade Buddha Temple, represented by Shangpa Foundation, handed over 500 pieces of oxygen concentrators, 5,000 disposable oxygen masks, 23,475 units of N99 and N95 surgical masks, 125,000 units of surgical and medical gloves, 2,180 goggles, 8,398 bottles of disinfectants and 1,200 pieces of PPE worth Rs. 51.28 million (RMB 2.8 million) to the officials of four national hospitals -- Dhulikhel Hospital, Kirtipur Hospital, Lumbini Hospital and Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Pokhara.
Khenpo Tashi, representative of the foundation, film director Prakash Bhatta and journalist Suman Pandit reached these hospitals to hand over the materials.
Shangpa Foundation was established in 2006 and has been active in humanitarian works in the country. In the past, it has provided assistance to the country in the aftermath of the 2015 earthquake and during 2019 COVID-19 pandemic, Shangpa Rinpoche, Chairperson of the foundation informed.
The foundation has thanked the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, the consulate of Nepal in Shanghai and Dhulikhel Hospital in Kathmandu for their support in delivering these medical supplies.
