Dhalkebar, Dec. 7: The construction of Shahid Gate in Janakpurdham, the temporary capital of Province 2, has reached the final stage. Only finishing and decoration tasks remain now.
Umesh Sah, operator of Mahato Construction, said that they were busy giving finishing touch to the gate. “We are paining the bow-shaped gate and placing some statue on it now,” he said.

Janakpurdham Sub-metropolitan City has constructed the Madhesh Martyr Gate at Mujeliya of Dhalkebar-Janakpur six-lane road.
The municipality spent Rs. 30 million for the construction of the gate.

The Sub-metropolitan City and the contractor had signed a contract on July 4, last year. According to the contract, the construction has to be completed by January 14 next year. The contractor is trying to hand over the project before the deadline as most of the tasks have already been completed. “We will hand over the gate to the municipality a month before the contract deadline,” Mahato said. He further said the bow shape of the gate was preferred to reflect the importance of the place as the city is known for art and culture.

Mahato further said that they will fix a 14-foot tall statue of God Ram at the centre of the gate and add statutes of martyrs Nikku Yadav, Sanjaya Chaudhary and Dilip Yadav respectively on three different pillars of the gate.
“Not only this, there will be pictures of martyrs from the movement in Terai on either side,” he added.

Mayor Lal Kishore Sah had committed for the construction of this gate with martyrs' images and statues to show respect to the martyrs in Terai.
