CCMC imposes ban on entry of passengers coming from UK

Kathmandu, Dec. 23: In the wake of growing cases of COVID-19 in the United Kingdom, the government on Tuesday decided to suspend all the flights to Nepal from the UK.
"A meeting of the directive committee of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre (CCMC) held this evening decided to bar the entry of all citizens, including Nepali nationals coming from the UK to Nepal," Mahendra Prasad Guragain, Secretary at the Office of Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers and coordinator of the Committee, told The Rising Nepal.
According to Secretary Guragain, the CCMC took the decision after more people in the UK were found infected with the coronavirus.
Similarly, the Committee has imposed similar ban on the passengers coming from other countries making the UK transit.
Those who have arrived in Nepal after December 15 have been requested to go their home district only after staying seven days in isolation, according to Secretary Gurugain.
Similarly, the government has requested all those who are currently in the transit of UK to come to Nepal only after staying in hotel quarantine for 10 days.
Prime Minister of the UK Boris Johnson on Sunday backtracked the decision of relaxing Christmas rules after scientists warned new COVID-19 variant was spreading faster and decided to prolong restrictive order till the end of December.
