Kathmandu, Nov 17 : Aarya Shrestha, 10, of Samakhushi has won the title of Miss Little Newa: Nepal 1141 beauty pageant held in the capital on Saturday.
Aarya also won the ‘Photogenic’ and ‘Public Choice’ Award in the competition organised by Nepalese Fashion Home at the Jamal-based Rastriya Nach Ghar. She also pocketed Rs. 25,000 along with the crown.
Likewise, Pranidhi Manandhar won First Runner-up, along with the title of Social Welfare Ambassador, Rikrishna Dangol bagged the title of Second Runner-up and Nayana Shakya won Miss Talent.
The first and second runners-up were given cash prizes of Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively.
Ashok Kumar Shrestha, Rapper Nirnaya Shrestha, Anil Sthapit, Indra Ratna Bajracharya, Mani Shree Ratna Bajracharya and Miss Newa: 1138 Riju Manandhar and the UK NRN President Ashok Babu Shrestha were the judges.
Hema Manandhar, President of Nepalese Fashion Home, said that Miss Little Newa: Nepal has been organising the event every year with the objective of boosting the confidence of Newar girls and adolescents and imparting knowledge about Newari art, culture, language to the young generation.
Similarly, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidya Sundar Shakya, who was the chief guest of the programme, said that it would help preserve Newar culture and art.
