By Govinda Sharma, Banke, Oct. 1: A physician under treatment at the Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj for the novel coronavirus infection has succumbed to the deadly virus Thursday afternoon.
The deceased doctor was working as senior orthopedic surgeon at the Surkhet Provincial Hospital, according to the family sources.
Ram Bahadur Kurumbang, Chief District Officer of Banke, informed that the doctor was undergoing treatment at the Bheri Hospital after he was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus infection.
As the health condition of the orthopedic surgeon deteriorated due to virus infection, he was also treated with plasma therapy method a few days ago.
According to a statement issued by the Bheri Hospital, the deceased, Dr. Hari Prasad Sapkota, 59, was chief consultant orthopedic surgeon working at the Karnali Provincial Hospital, Kalagaun Surkhet.
Dr. Sapkota had tested positive for COVID-19 on September 14 and admitted to the COVID Special Isolation Ward of the Bheri Hospital for treatment on September 17 after initial treatment at the hospital he was working.
The orthopedic surgeon was also suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure.
