The TU has decided to open all campuses by implementing the health safety directives issued by the government.

Leader of the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress, in the Karnali State Assembly, Jeevan Bahadur Shahi, has conquered the coronavirus infection. He had tested positive to the virus in the RT PCR test carried out at the Province Hospital Surkhet on July 13 before leaving for his home district Humla.    

Barman Budha, first communist party member of Rolpa, no more

Former Member of Parliament, Barman Budha, passed away this morning. He was 90. Budha was the first person to take membership of the Communist Party from Rolpa. The veteran communist leader of Rolpa died at 4.30 am today at Patan Hospital in Lalitpur, his daughter Bijaya Budha said.    

Change possible on the foundation of Pushpa Lal's thought-CM Poudel  

Bagmati State Chief Minister Dormani Poudel claimed that the change was possible on the foundation of the thought of the late Pushpa Lal.     Delivering a message on the 41st Memorial Day of the founder general secretary of the Nepal Communist Party Pushpa Lal Shrestha today, CM Poudel said his emphasis on collaborating with democratic forces to dethrone the Rana oligarchy laid a solid foundation for the political change in the country.    

Landslide again blocks Narayangadh-Muglin road section   

Landslide has again thrown the traffic along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section out of gear. In a couple of hours following the operation of one-way traffic, the road came to a complete halt, shared chief of Division Road Office Bharatpur engineer Krishna Raj Adhikari. 

Relief provided to families of landslide victims in Syangja

Hari Bahadur Chuman, Gandaki State Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, provided the relief amount to the families of the victims of the natural disaster on Tuesday. Families of the three who were killed and a family of the one who went missing in the landslides on July 14 at Khahare, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-4 and another family of a person who was killed after landslides buried his house at Galyang Municipality-9 on June 27 were handed over the relief.

No risk of outburst of glacial lake for time being

Issuing a public notice on Monday, the local administration had asked the people of Sunkoshi and Bhotekoshi rivers basin to remain on high-alert and safe as the lake might burst at any moment.

Water level rises above danger mark, Narayani posing risk to overflow Gandak dam, Susta area in high risk

 Many rivers across the nation have crossed the danger mark and many are in the verge of crossing the danger level due to the incessant rainfall for a couple of days, thereby water-logging the settlements near river banks.

Narayani river crosses danger line with highest water level in 44 years   

The water level in Narayani river has reached 9.91 metres at 9 am today. This is recorded as the highest level after 44 years.     According to Narayani Basin Field Office Bharatpur chief, Ram Bikesh Ray, the water flow was measured 14,779 cubic metres per second at that time. Similarly, water level was measured 10.1 metres and water flow 15,300 cubic metres on 5th August 1974.    

  Rato River sweeps away man  

A man was swept away by the local Rato River here today. The man who had gone missing in the river has been identified as Barendra Kapar, 40, of Bhangaha municipality-6, Mahottari, the District Police Office said.    

Water level rising in rivers: Narayani and Koshi cross danger level

Life in most parts of the country including in Kathmandu Valley has been affected due to the incessant rainfall since two days. Landslide and flood has taken pace in several places, blocking the highways.    

Two killed in landslides in eastern Nawalparasi

Police Inspector (SP) at the eastern Nawalparasi District Police Office, Deepak Regmi, informed that bodies of Sher Bahadur Sarki, 70, and his wife Khini Maya were recovered this morning. The couple were buried under the landslides that came from above their house.

The flooded Maikhola divided into two branches by trapping a cowshed in between where there were two persons from Maijogmai Rural Municipality-5. Lok Bahadur Nembang, 65, and Jojo Limbu, 30, were brought to safety by the NA persons last night.

Red Cross provides relief materials to disaster-hit households  

Nepal Red Cross has intensified the distribution of relief materials to the households which have suffered most in the monsoon caused disasters.          As many as 225 families from 18 districts including Sindhupalchowk, Myagdi, Gulmi and Jajarkot which are worst hit in the landslide and floods have been provided full set of relief materials worth Rs 10,000. LMC brings Nepal Sambat into official use

Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) has started using Nepal Sambat, in addition to Bikram Sambat, to date its official documents. The decision was passed by the municipal assembly and came into effect from July 16. This move aims to help in the preservation and promotion of Nepal Sambat, according to Raju Maharjan, spokesperson for LMC. He said, “The Metropolitan City wants to go beyond simple slogans, promote the use of this indigenous calendar of our country and help in protecting it.”

Govt seeks applications from unemployed people

Aspiring people can apply for registration at the employment service centre at local level from July 23 to August 23. The selected applicant is bound to work at the area as directed by the centre in line with Clause 21 of the Right to Employment Act, 2075

Prithvi Highway disrupted due to floods

Vehicular movement along the Pritvhi Highway has come to a standstill as the torrential rainfall occurring from Sunday night washed away an approach road to Mauwakhola bridge in Prithvi Highway at the bordering point of Chitwan and Dhading district.

Over 200 houses inundated due to floods in Saptakoshi, Khando rivers, 50 families evacuated

A situation of displacement had nearly emerged when the flood entered the settlement and water level in the Khando river crossed the danger mark. However, now that the flood level has come down, the situation has improved. If water level rises again in the Khando, people in that settlement should be evacuated to a safer, higher location, he said.
