Prohibitory orders have been enforced in all three districts of the Kathmandu Valley from today in order to contain the spread of coronavirus.

People have mixed reactions on new prohibition order in Valley

Considering the rapidly rising cases of COVID-19, the Chief District Officers of the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley have decided to impose a week-long prohibition order in the valley effective from Wednesday midnight. But the valley’s residents, mostly those running businesses, are less than pleased with the decision.

Investigation into Nirmala Pant case is on: Police

As netizens have flooded social media demanding justice for 13-year-old Nirmala Pant, who was raped and murdered in July 2018, with the hashtag #JusticeForNirmalaPanta, Nepal Police have said that they are investigating into the case seriously. Six more succumb to COVID-19, death toll hits 120

Six persons, two males, and six females succumbed to the virus infection in the last 24 hours, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

159 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Kathmandu Valley

In 11,522 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, as many as 159 persons, 54 females and 114 males, were found with the virus infection in the Valley itself, informed Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the ministry in the daily press briefing today.

Birgunj records two more COVID-19 related deaths

An 84-year-old COVID-19 patient of Birgunj Metropolitan City (BMC)-4 died on Tuesday night at 10:30 pm receiving treatment at Gandak Temporary COVID-19 Hospital. He was admitted to the hospital on August 11, said Dr. Udayanarayan Singh, coordinator of the temporary hospital. He was also suffering from pneumonia.

Three COVID-19 related deaths confirmed in Hetauda, Dharan

Three COVID-19 related deaths have been confirmed in Hetauda and Dharan today. Two persons of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City, who died in the last 24 hours, were found to have been infected with the novel coronavirus.

108 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Parsa district

Jaymod Thakur, Health Inspector at Parsa District Health Office, said that most of the newly confirmed infected, 90 out of 108, as per the report of the PCR test carried out at the Narayani Hospital laboratory are from Badhurmai Municipality. Of those 90, 65 are from Bhauratar settlement, Ward No. 5 of the municipality.

Rashtrakavi Ghimire's last rites performed  

The Rashtrakavi (National Poet) Madhav Prasad Ghimire's last rites have been performed with national honours at the Pashupati Aryaghat today. The late poet's sons, Indiwar and Rajiv Ghimire, lit the funeral pyre.
