Directive to close educational institutions in Dolakha   

A meeting of the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centre has ordered the educational institutions to close completely. The Centre's directive comes after coronavirus infection cases were found in the district.

Number of active cases on decreasing trend   

Number of active infection cases is decreasing in the district of late. As of Wednesday, 952 out of total 1,085 infected have recovered and returned home in Doti district.

The National Maize Research Programme based in Rampur of Chitwan has embarked on undertaking a research for the prevention and control of fall armyworm – a type of agricultural pest which has posed a serious threat to their grain outputs.    

Public vehicles disregarding safety protocol

While the risk of coronavirus infection remains high, it has become riskier to travel by public vehicles these days. Some passengers travelling by public vehicles said the virus infection risk is always there as they have neither sanitizers, nor do they maintain proper distancing and follow mandatory provision of boarding only 50 per cent passengers of their total seat capacity. Only vehicle fares have been increased, passengers complained.

Man behind kidnapping Nepalis in Malaysia arrested

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has arrested an individual involved in kidnapping Nepalis in Malaysia for ransom from Kathmandu on Tuesday. Issuing a press-statement on Wednesday, CIB made public the arrested individual as 44-year-old Durga Bahadur Shrestha aka David. "It will take one week for the monsoon which has started to dissipate from the western parts of the country to reach to the eastern parts," he said, adding that the exit of the monsoon starts from the western part and concludes from the east.

PCR test approval of hospitals, laboratories charging higher fee to be revoked

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has warned that the approval to conduct Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test given to eight laboratories in the valley would be revoked if they continue charging a higher amount for PCR test than that prescribed by the government.
