Kathmandu, Sept 30 : The sanitizer produced by the Department of Drugs Administration – a government undertaking has been in high demand in the market.    

At a time when the sanitizers produced and made available by different companies in the market have been found mixed with poisonous chemicals, the product of the Department has witnessed growing demand.    

Acting Director General of the Department Bijaya Shree Ratna Bajracharya shared that the daily transaction of sanitizer is around 300,000.    

The Department has been producing allopathic drugs, mainly Cetamol, Cetaplus, Jeevanjal, sanitizer, glycerine and distilled water.    

Bajracharya shared that the sanitizers have been produced since March in keeping with the growing need of the market.

“We had initiated manufacturing the sanitizer keeping into consideration the market need prior to the enforcement of lockdown on 24 march 2020. Now our manufacturing capacity is 20,000 litres”, he added.    

“Our product has drawn market attention after the sanitizers manufactured by different companies were found with health hazard poisons”, he said.    

According to the Department, the market price of 60 ml sanitizer is Rs 78 while it is Rs 125 for 100 ml; Rs 250 for 200 ml and Rs 450 for 500 ml.
