Kathmandu, Mar. 16: ‘Yantrika’ 0.1 Beta Version, the first Humanoid Artificial Intelligence (AI) Robot developed by the Faculty of Technology, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), has been placed in the second position at the SMART Maker Festival, 2020 organised by SMART Society Canada, Business Upside, USA and IEM America Corporation and IEM-UEM.
A certificate was issued in the name of NAST and Er. Roshan Pandey, team leader of the project.
The robot is based on AI with deep machine learning methods. The robot can generalise and distinguish the mask-wearing or not-wearing people and give them mask and sanitizer and measure the body temperature of the visitors. It talks with them and provides them with information of NAST to the visitors.
The main objective of the advanced technology is to give information regarding wearing of mask, measuring body temperature and using sanitizer to general public through lady volunteer as robot during COVID-19 pandemic. The robot is made of fiber material in a human shape with more than 25 motors and works on neural network using more than a dozen processors and a tablet in front part of its belly.
The product is pure research and development and not the commercial outlet. The upgrading of the technology would be done in the coming days with change in it usability and applicability, according of NAST. The programme was organised on December 5, 2020, in online mode including the most innovative technologies of the year.
The participants were from different countries like the United States, Germany, Canada, India, Nepal, England and others.
Similarly, the first position went to Luis Guzman for Zeus of the United States and the third position was shared by Ankit Pitroda for Immersive Technologies and Souhridya Bhattacharya for 4-in-1 Smart Mask of India.
