Kathmandu, Jan. 1: Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Ale has expressed worries about wrong appointment in Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).
Speaking on 23rd Annual Day of NTB on Friday, Minister Ale said that appointment of a wrong man had hampered the performance of the board.

Stressing need for good governance and transparency on service delivery, Minister Ale said, “Officials appointed to lead a public organisation should always have maintained their prestige, but sadly that has not been the case.”

Minister Ale further said political posts were for a short term, but the posts of public authorities were not. “I am a politician who can come to the power today and exit the next day, but the authorities like a CEO remain in the public post for a fixed term,” he added.

The Minister criticised CEO Dhananjaya Regmi for his behavior, which the latter exhibited during their overseas trip and said it was unfortunate to appoint him to man the NTB. “He misbehaved me in our London trip, I want to warn the authorities to not cross the limits,” he added.

Minister Ale said that he wouldn’t exchange his honesty for the possible opportunities while serving as a minister.
CEO Regmi was appointed to the post in January by the previous government. A brawl with the employee at the Tribhuwan International Airport had dragged him into a controversy and he was accused of abusing authority and fiscal irregularity on the board later on.

CEO Regmi was even suspended from the post on December 17. However, the Supreme Court order on December 29 revoked the decision.
